This is the typical Chinese place setting (minus the large quantity of plates. usually there is only one plus a tea cup saucer.). The basic concept is that everything is eaten out of the bowl (this makes chopsticks make a lot more sense. it is very difficult to eat rice off of a plate with chopsticks.) and the plate is for waste. Waste? Yes, for the most part there's no boneless anything. The waiter will come and change your trash plate everytime it fills up.
